Ideas Worth Spreading - The Mission of TED & TEDx
In order to be a speaker at any type of TED or TEDx event, you must have an Idea Worth Spreading to share with the world.
1. Think hard about what your "Idea worth spreading" is!
As mentioned earlier, TED & TEDx Speakers all carry an Idea Worth Spreading.
Think about your Idea Worth Spreading, and write it down!
This idea worth spreading must be your own original idea!
2. Think about what the TEDx Stage means to you.
If your goal is just to put this on your resume, DO NOT APPLY.
Our stage is for people with a great idea!
Your ultimate goal should be sharing your Idea Worth Spreading with the world, not just to gain the title: “TEDx Speaker”.
3. Start the Application Process, BUT DO NOT RUSH IT.
After you have a clear idea of what your Idea Worth Spreading is, begin the application process! When you have everything filled, do not rush to submit it. Remember: You have time.
We recommend you to have your friends or family read it over before applying: suggestions and advice are always valuable to consider.
4. Submitting your Application!
Once you are completely satisfied with your application, submit it! No matter what the result is, the important thing is that put your all into it, and you tried your best! If you think that you created something great, then that is its own reward.
Tip: Look for Inspiration
We suggest before you submit your application, go watch some other TEDx or TED talks, it might give you a better understanding of what a TEDx talk is.
And finally: Be thoughtful, not divisive.
Remember, politics and religion are never allowed in the TED & TEDx community, and our speakers should shy away from language and topics that might divide people. Remember: the most important thing for us at a TEDx event is the ideas, so if you have an idea that is truly worth spreading, then we have a place for you.
